Tobias Revell is fascinated by the ‘magic’ of technology and the technical reality. In his talk he will reflect on the the seemingly supernatural machine sensorium.

His most recent works focus on the relations between mythology, magic and current technologies. This finds expression in his work The Finite State Fantasia 2016, an installation presented as part of the Artefact exhibition at De Brakke Grond, and also in his collaborative project Haunted Machines undertaken with Natalie Kane.

Biography

Tobias Revell is a British artist and designer whose work centers on critical engagement with contemporary technopolitics. In his artistic practice he works across film, mixed media and images while producing supporting theoretical work in the forms of lectures, essays and papers. He is Senior Lecturer in Critical and Digital Design at the London College of Communication and has visiting positions at several institution. He is undertaking a PhD in the Design Department at Goldsmiths, University of London, and is a founding member of research consultancy Strange Telemetry. Tobias Revell is based in London.
